CSA - Nilgiris Visit
On July 27th, 2019 we visited three schools in the interior of the Nilgiris district to conduct session on Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.
- PUPS, Kesalada School
- PUPS, Beben
- PUMS, Horasholai
First we went PUPS, Kesalada School. We planned to start session by 9.30 but was delayed by one hour, since many kids are walking from interior areas and only few buses are available on time. Head Master of the school was so supportive, and he called old students for this session. Totally 30 kids were present and all are very interactive.
Next we went to PUPS, Beben which was too interior and at top of the hill. Before two years, the School was planned to closed due to low strength, because of the hard work of two teachers and they changed school infrastructure, teaching methodologies and increased the student count. Now there are 22 kids. Nirosha handled the session and kids understood and responded well.
The last session of the day was at PUMS, Horasholai which took 30 minutes from the previous schoool. Head Master was an excellent person and he arranged lunch for us. We were welcomed by the kids at the entrance itself. It was 4.30pm - school closing time but the staffs arranged the kids and all assembled for the session. Vigneshwaran started the session with who are children and icebreakers then followed by Nirosha who took the full kids session and kids were very interactive. It was the best session since kids responded well.
Observer:
Chandrika observed the sessions well and helped in clicking pics and managed the kids as well.
We are proud to say that this is the first session at Nilgiris and we are the first team to reach interior parts of Nilgiris to aware and alert kids about child safety and child sexual abuse.
We thank Thoorigai Trust for arranging and providing us the opportunity.
